I am trying to ID this Remington 700. It is in 7mm Ultra Mag with a 26 inch barrel. I am thinking it is a "C" Custom but they all look so different.

It has the strengthening to the stock, ebony tip and pistol butt with the white line, butt pad with the white line, checkering and Monte Carlo cheek rest stock.

It has what looks like laser engraving on the receiver and mag plate.

It came with the iron sights as well but has been fitted with a Leupold. If it is a Custom, it is the most affordable one ever purchased. What do you think?

There was a period where some models had "fine line engraving" (for a few yrs, IIRC this same time Browning did similar to some of their stuff).
Those were not hand engraved, like the custom shop guns.

Your stock is a standard BDL w skip line machine checkering.
So I am suspecting it just a "fine line" model.

700 BDL Custom Deluxe (I think that means just reg BDL)...........fine line was standard '97-01

Ultramag started in '01...........so looks like yours would be an '01 model (since it has fine line).
Could have been a carry over a yr or two of parts though.

First BDL listing in Blue Book 25th Edition.

Had to check on date of fine line.
Remember when Big Green made the switch.
Was wanting a 7600 in .308 and local shop only got fine line.

Saw a Browning BPS upland special 20 ga too, w their version of fine line.
    Nice, but not my thing.

May be something on a Rem Society 700 model listing, but can't find it just yet.
There is a nice model breakdown w old ads on 870s and 1100s IIRC...........but it appears one needs to buy a book for the 700 LOL (no doubt due to way more variations).

Some folks think the nice old yearly glossy catalogues listed everything. Nope.

Note: not catalogued doesn't mean custom shop.

Deer stuff, like .243 through .30-06 used to be 22" in BDL. The 7 and ,300 mags 24".
    That changed later, to 26".
I would expect any Ultramag to be 26" (or longer).

IIRC the old .25-06 deer models were 24" when the others were 22" (my 700 BDL .243 was a pre '76 model......had cut checkering but not skip lined, think that started in '76 ). My 700 BDL in .300 winmag had same type of checkering :)

    Buds 40XBKS in .220 swift I thought was 27".

Honestly, I forget what my .22-250 blued fluted VS was (not catalogued). Think it was a 26".
Another bud had a Sendero blued fluted in .25-06.

THAT is a rifle I have been looking for LOL
Actually found one online I think this yr, or late last yr...........it sold for silly price (as in silly high, not silly low).

I actually like the walnut w black tip, cap and white spacers of the BDL.
Better than the CDL or whatever that has the black but no white.

They are to my eye, handsome.

Alas, they are pretty, and...... wood, and I'd just ding the poor thing on the kitchen table when cleaning it and set my OCD to raging.

Scoped pics and did find it to be a 700 BDL Custom Deluxe. Thanks for all the help. My brother picked it up in our LGS a little over a year ago just as it sets with the Leupold scope and mount. It was obviously well cared for.

That RUM round sounds like artillery! I guess he wants to hunt chipmunks or such...
