I think I'm getting 1911 fever. I've been getting a good amount of 45 lately and think I need to purchase a handgun to have some fun with the 45 cal. The only thing I have that uses the 45 is S&W Governor but I prefer the 45 Colt. The moon clips are a pain. I'm not looking for something for carry. Looking for something for the conversation club and something for my collection. I prefer to stick around 1,000 or less. I want something reliable and a good track record.

Thanks for the chuckle. Had to look at it twice to make sure I just wasn't tired and reading it wrong. :ingo:

It has to be a 1911A1. Most popular .45 platform going. For shooting, I would get a full sized Government Model. For carry, I would opt for a 3.5" Officers or maybe the Springfield XDS. There are lot of choices out there for $1000 or less.

    Good Shooting!

If you take your time you should be able to find a Colt in that price range...they tend to hold their value.

Springfield Loaded or Range Officer comes to mind. Beautiful, accurate, and just under your $1k price range.

    Sig P220 Elite

Sig Sauer C3, or several of their other 1911 offerings.

S&W E series 1911 has a few offerings at under $1k or right at it.

Plenty of good choices in .45 in the $1k range.

I find the 1911 to be a timeless wonder. Clearly when the design thrives for a hundred years its for a reason. The ergonomics, grip angle, weight and a a quality trigger win me over every time I hold one. I like the Remington model and love reading about the Ruger as well.
