She tied for first in one competition, and took 2nd place in another. The NWI Meet and shoot was last Saturday, and she did so great. She was using my 9 year old Savage Mark II(pre Accutrigger) and my Ruger 22/45. She did so great. I just can't explain how proud I am of her. My rifle scope was sighted in for shooting 36grain CCI Stingers. She insisted on not wasting money and just using Remington Thunderbolt ammo.

She was able to make all the aiming adjustments on the fly. I along with the other INGOers at the event were very impressed. She missed taking first place in Jedi's competition by 1 point. And she has only been shooting 4 times this whole year. It is true what they say, women are better shooters than men.

She also got introduced to a bunch of cool guns she had never tried before.

I think new shooters, especially girls who don't have much shooting experience, tend to listen better and don't walk up to the gun with preconcieved ideas of how to shoot. They just go up there and do it - and do it well I might add.

I think I remember this girl earlier this year being introduced to shooting (there was Aeon Flux comparisons if she's the same), Im glad to see that she is showing so much interest in such a wide variety of firearms

Truth. I tought riflery at a YMCA camp a few summers ago and the best students were almost always the girls. By the end of the summer I had nearly and even split of boys and girls taking riflery, just like I wanted. I guess I made it my mission that summer to open up the program and get girls interested in recreational shooting instead of it being dominated by the boys. Weather and food were awful, but the kids were great.

The video of her shooting the 9mm 1911 is really cool. You can tell where the action is slowed by varying strengths used in her wrist. Doesn't appear she limped it enough to cause a problem, but you can definitely see the action change. Very cool post. +1

It's because women are better listeners than men. Especially when it comes to something "new".

We men tend to be...macho...when it comes to learning new stuff. We almost come pre-programed that we know how to do something if we've seen it once (but have never done it)

Hardly an instructor out there who won't tell you that women make better students.

I'll get her working on her wrist strength right away.

Amen. I was kind of making fun of my wife (who carries for work) just last week about how, at the range, she acts all innocent and gun-shy so that guys will line up to show her their guns. She pointed out to me, rather seriously, that it wasn't an act, and that she genuinely wanted to get every piece of relevant information repeated so as to drive it home, even if it was stuff she already knows. I was looking at it from an ego perspective, and she was looking at it from a student's perspective.

She has expressed interest in going to the next NWI Meet and Shoot, where she will prolly kick more butt and take more names.

If she's the same gal you posted pics of in the past, I'm glad to see her posture/form has improved.

It took several trips to the range, and a few promises, but she has greatly improved on her form. She really trys to do things too technical though, I hope that eventually she will have a flow to her shots.

It was just brought to my attention, but yes I do wish she had better trigger control in the SL8 video. It was a bit sloppy, I'll have to let her work on that.
