    Hi Everyone,

This is just to put the word out that the second match of the season is this coming Saturday, Nov. 2nd, at the Indoor range on the north side of Columbus. If you're an NRA member (or USA Shooting member) and would like to try bullseye (one-handed) pistol shooting, this is a good opportunity to try it out in a small, helpful setting. The club will be putting on these matches the first Saturday of each month running through next March.

    Match Dates:
    --------------
    Nov. 2
    Dec. 7
    Jan. 4, 2014
    Feb. 1
    Mar. 1

    The events are as follows:

Air Pistol & Air Rifle (10 meters) - 3 relays of 10 shooters beginning at 9AM. Air Rifle is 60 shots in 2 hours for male shooters; women and juniors, 40 shots in 80 minutes. Air Pistol is 60 shots in 1 hr. 45 minutes, or 40 shots in 1 hr. 15 minutes for Women and Juniors (Jerry has loaner air guns for new shooters).

Then, beginning approx. 1:30 PM, the 50 ft. firearm events:

    Free Pistol (.22LR)
    Standard Pistol (.22LR)
Centerfire Pistol (.30 through .357 caliber)
    Sport Pistol (.22LR)

...one relay each (the format is a bit fluid at this point since it's the first time running the latter two events).

Air Pistol and Free Pistol are slow-fire events, 60 shots. Standard Pistol, Centerfire, and Sport Pistol are mixed slow fire and timed fire (Standard Pistol contains strings of 5 shots in 10 seconds, to give you an idea of the "upper" end of speed required). A decent quality .22LR auto pistol with open sights will allow you to compete in the .22 events, and the most popular gun for Center Fire is an open-sighted .38/.357 revolver.

Match fees for NRA members are $12 for the first event you enter, $6 for subsequent matches (Juniors $6 per match for all matches). USA Shooting members registering scores with that organization will pay $14 and $8, respectively (juniors, $8).

Advance entry is requested / recommended, so if you PM me, I'll make sure to pass along your request to Jerry Thomas, Match Director, or you can look up his email address at the Hoosier Hills Rifle & Pistol Club website and contact him directly (www.hhrp.org). There's more information and directions there (please note the match bulletin there is not current regarding dates - all other info is good), and you can also check out the NRA Competitions website for rules information for the specific International Pistol events.

Feel free to respond or PM me if you have questions of any type. Hope to see you there!

It's getting to be that time again - next match is Dec. 7th. Contact info as described in last two paragraphs above...if in doubt, give us a shout, we'll do whatever we can to help.

Spend Pearl Harbor Day in a nice toasty indoor range with people who like to shoot guns! If you have any curiosity about bullseye shooting, contact me or Jerry. This is a great place to learn about the sport in a low-key atmosphere.
