Don't know if this is true or not but was told the law was changed earlier this year prohibiting the sale of long guns to out of state buyers without an FFL transfer.I was informed it was legal now as long as the buyer is legal to own a gun and the gun is legal in his state. Can anyone tell me if there is any truth to this?

An FFL is still required for any standard interstate firearm transfer.

Indiana recently removed their restriction on long gun purchases which only allowed for purchasing from FFLs in neighboring states.
Now you are free to purchase a long gun from an FFL in any state provided you could legally do so in the state of purchase and your home state.

This is in compliance with the restrictions of Federal code: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/unlicensed-persons.html

Interstate handgun transfers must still go through an FFL in your resident state - no change there.
