I'm finally getting serious about buiding up my 2 romy g-kits (this is my second thread on the matter tonight, go vote in my poll if you haven't already).

One of the G-kits has the upper handguard retainers cut off of the gas tube. I think the previous owner was going to install some funky front handguard that went all the way up above the gas tube so didn't require the upper guard. Anyways, I would like to do something with that (not leave the gas tube completely open) but don't know what to do with the retainers missing.

My thought was some sort of ventilated heat shield (similar to what you see on some "tactical shotguns") that would fit onto the gas tube. Does such a monster exist? Any suggestions?

I know the AMD65 has an open gas tube, was there anything made to cover those up?

This is basically what I have except mine has some cut/grind marks on it that I really want hidden.
