I just hope that if Illinois residents want to pack up and come here they won't vote for politicians promising to do the same things that got Illinois were they are now.

Oh, you know they will. A total non understanding of the laws of economics are what brought Illinois to where it is. Once the realities of their choices catch up to them, they flee all the while no understanding THEY are the cause. It's as if aliens came down and brought these economic troubles with them.

Did they quit holding elections and I never heard about it? We get the government we vote for. Keep voting that party line!

It sounds as tough you have contempt for JJ's founder for leaving. Why?
How could you read contempt into anything I said? I'm pleased as punch he moved out of Illinois.

As far as elections go no matter how much things change they stay the same. Personally I vote for whoever best represents my opinions. Never along party lines.

Navistar is going to get hurt financially by moving their headquarters to Illinois. They recently moved from Ft. Wayne, In to somewhere over there.

I can't remember the name of the ammunition manufacturer, but read something tonight again about them moving their HQ from Illinois to Missouri after negotiations with their union employees failed to strike a deal.

I wish I could support them....but I moved to NH, the nearest one is in Syracuse, NY. Drag. I LOVE JJ!! I'm from central IL, we've been JJ'ers for years. Good for him, move on down to Florida...(or better yet NH) ...and start some more franchises ;)

Happens all the time. Look at Nevada. All the people that moved there from California for lower taxes started looking around and decided they wanted buses and nicer schools and newer police cars etc...

I bailed from Illinois last year. It is a peoples republik run by corrupt Democrats and RINO's. They call it the "combine". As long as Chicago is part of Illinois, it will remain that way. The voters who keep this going are unabashed liberals living in a dream world, tax eaters who suck the system dry generation after generation, piblic sector union members, and private sector union members. Together that group has turned the state into a cesspool. Illinois will be the last stae to get any type of carry. Madigan has been running the show, almost uninterrupted since 1971. He's done a great job, no? I am glad to be over here. You folks don't know how good you have it here.

I have my escape plan, and it would be simple if I was single. We live in a "dream" house we built ourselves in 1992. One kid is a freshman and the other is in 7th grade. Both at private schools. Own a farm with two old houses in Indiana that's really too far to keep the kids in the schools they are in. (about 40 miles) I really don't want to split up the family by having one kid stay in town with relatives to finish high school while the other goes to the public high school in Indiana. (Decent school, nearby the property). The wife isn't ready to sell the beautiful home we built to move into a shack as she sees it right now. We pay $7000 in property taxes and don't use the schools. I don't want to rebuild a house in Indiana until we sell the Illinois house, too conservative to speculate I guess. Meanwhile, taxes go up, people leave, more houses go up for sale, values go down. It's a catch 22. Don't want to be the last rat off this sinking Illinois ship.

I'm going to make a slight threadjack here. Nothing personal against you, you just brought thee thoughts to my mind.

The act of moving from one city or state to another to avoid oppressives taxes and local governments is a very powerful way to affect change without shedding blood. Illinois residents are realizing that their state is too far gone to ever come back. The majority of the population around them either are happy with the status quo or demand more of it so you realize you can't vote your way out of it. The majority don't think like you or want what you want. They're socialists. The only option left to you is to move to a more liberty minded states because you know an armed R WORD is not possible.

Now let's substitute Illinois and Indiana with Mexico and the USA. I used to be 110% dearest against illegal immigration. I felt that if they want a better life, they can fight for and earn it in their country like our founders did.

Obviously the glaring difference in these scenarios is that moving from one state to another is not changing countries like illegal immigration is. Currently, there are no laws preventing us from moving frok one state to another. But if Illinois got bad enough and you were worried about feeding your kids, would you let a law blocking interstate moving stop you?

I've come to the conclusion that the majority of Americans do not want true liberty. If they did, our government wouldn't be the way it is. Most Americans aren't willing to risk what our founders did to right this ship. So is feeing taking the easy way out or is it the only real option we have left?

    Who is John Galt?

Let me add, there are many conservative folks in Illinois who hate what it has become. It will not get better unless they get rid of the Chicago politicians, and in my prior post I explain why this will never happen. I can assure you, there are plenty of Illinois folks who would bail if they had the chance. I did and I took it.
