    and die!

Dad took #1 out for his first shooting experience today. And just in the nick of time. The tomatoes from the garden were zombified from the recent light frosts and plotting our demise. How fortuitous that they agreed to meet on the field of honor (or Papaw's pasture) for battle.

Video. I swear he's the one shooting.

He turned 5 in the spring.

And, yes, that's a .22 upper on an AR. CMMG upper with a craptastic all-plastic charging handle that lasted a grand total of 7 shots. Fortunately, dad decided to take along the .223 upper and made the swap.

    Plastic charging handle?:n00b:

Was he able to handle a .223? I know the recoil is nothing for an adult, but I could see it being a lot for a bony 5 year old's shoulder.

Or did you swap out the charging handles?

He swapped charging handles. But G did get through two rounds of the .223 before deciding he needed to be older to handle them.

Cute kid and what an awesome way to spend the afternoon.

Of course, now I have that blasted song stuck in my head.
