Today at work (I work at a pawn shop), someone came in and sold us a toolbox. They only wanted 20 dollars for it so we just went ahead and gave it to them without really looking through it. Once I started looking through it I came across this Bark River knife. I quickly snapped it up for myself at the low low price of only 5 dollars. I was hoping someone here to tell me a little more about it. And what it might be worth. Also, it's pretty dull. I've never really sharpened and a knife like this before and would love some tips.

Have a look on knivesshipfree.com he is a barky dealer and you can probably match your knife up. I am not good at judging scale but looks to be a bravo 1 or the smaller gunny. You did very well strop it up and you have a great knife. Congrats!

Looks like a Bravo 1. New, they will run around $160 on up depending on the handle material.

    Nice Score! :yesway:

Edit: After looking at my Bark River Catalog, it is possible that it could be a Gunny model. Either way, nice score!

That is indeed a Bravo 1. You got a steal on that! I see that a firesteel was included as well. That firesteel alone new is at least $49.95 which is our price on a basic wood one.

    Congratulations!

I should have mentioned in my first post that the wood on the handle looks like it may be Redwood Burl. You are welcome to send me a better picture and I can probably tell you for sure what the wood is.

Well, let me be the first to say you suck. Tell you what, I will offer you a rare opportunity to quadruple your money. That's right, I will give you 20 whole dollars for it right now.

All kidding aside, that is a great find and a killer deal. Good for you! I think you will enjoy it.

Ended up trading treanor for this knife. Have no idea what the handles are (Redwood Birdseye Burl?), but they are awfully damn pretty. Full of little bird eyes, and lots of fire when you move it in the light.

Great find. Buy a good stone and a strop. Look to your tool catalogs that sell planes and chisels. If you are going to have good quality knives then you should have quality sharpeners as well. Don't skimp on these items.

The color in the pics is not good but it does look like Redwood Burl. Beautiful stuff!
