Lansky sharpening question

I have had a Lansky system for quite awhile, but I never purchased the c-clamp or pedestal. I have had good luck sharpening with it, just curious if people find the clamp or pedestal help? Thanks much.

I have the lansky system along with pedestal but never use it as I prefer using a stone myself.

I thought it would work well and I was wrong. I think this system is made for people who don't know how to sharpen a knife with a stone.

I know this did not answer your question so please forgive my rant.

I have had fairly good luck with it, but I am not sure if I should switch to a stone system.

I have had a Lansky sharpener for over thirty years. I find the pedestal a very useful tool.
