The wife and I just bought a bank owned house in Paragon. I was wanting everything check out on the house. It has propane heat, well water. The electric has a 100 amp panel. The electric I want upgraded to 200 amp. I need wired for an electric stove and for it to be up to code I need 3 smoke detectors wired in each bedroom and a gfi outlet on the front of the house.

Upgrading the electric may involve a lot; you have to have 200A rated service all the way back to the substation which may require new transformers and almost certainly big enough wire. The utility may want a lot of money, and you're looking at a lot for the drop as well. MIL is in a little house in Ft Wayne and was wondering if I could upgrade her from 60A, I just told her, nah, that's not gonna happen. Smoke detectors and GFI are pretty trivial stuff.
