    M14

When I was in Afghanistan in 2010 it was not un-common at all to see the M14 being carried and used.In fact in one situation I had a Army designated marksman save my arse with a M14.:patriot:

I never saw any wood stocks, but I know our armory had a rack full of McMillan stocked M14s back in 2000. I was always itching to shoot one of them instead of my M16 when we qualified, I knew even then what they are capable of.

I am going ot have to quit reading this post...serious jonesing to plop down the cash for a M1a from Springfield!! DOH!

You won't regret it. Got mine back in early December and I'm loving it. We had 2 M14s on my first trip over in 2005. The second trip in 2008 I actually saw a female carrying one at the PX when we stopped over in Baghdad. It was a WTF situation.

Hard to think of a modern army capable of fighting (or at least trying to) 5th generation warfare that doesn't have squad/platoon based DMRs anymore. They're just clutch.

This doesn't even count all the former Warsaw pact countries and the Kalshnikov variants they run. The DMR is to vital to modern warfare to go without.
