    You've got the right idea!

Personally, I despise X-mas. Spending money I don't need to spend on things that people don't need to supposedly "celebrate" something I really don't care about. However, tradition being what it is, 'tis the season, and all that....I'm pretty much obligated. Luckily, the kids are older and would just as soon have their gift straight from the ATM, with just a few trinkets around the tree for tradition's sake. Makes it a little easier. Dead presidents are always the right size. :)

If I had my druthers, I'd just as soon spend the holiday somewhere with palm trees, rather than pine trees.

Although I understand where you're coming from, I think I'll just be the first to reference this:

I'm with Rambler! My parents gave up on the whole Christmas thing years ago, now we just get together to spend time with eachother. My dad (for the last 10 years or so) just takes me and my brother-in-laws to a gun show and we get what we want. This year I picked up an AR and I'm fine with that. It makes it easy and we also get to all go out and talk guns for a day! It a win, win. My mom on the other hand goes out with my wife and sisters and they go shopping. My dad isnt a big shopper and my mom has had health problems and just cant get out by herself so it makes it easy.
