Metal casings in my spikes ar15

Does your AR have hard chromed chamber ? Ive noticed that alot of these rifles seem to be more problematic without the hard chroming (problem they had in Vietnam when the military thought the chroming wasnt necessary ) I shoot steel case in my Bushmaster all the time & have never had a sticking or jamming issue.

I know my Spike's ST-15 I purchased from Aszerigan last fall has a hard chromed chamber.

I don't have an opinion on if steel is good or bad, but I've always run brass in my AR's. I used to have a hipoint 995, and tried a box of steel cased 9mm in it, and the gun preformed like crap, it never even hiccupped with brass.

My AK on the other hand was designed for steel, and it runs if perfectly.

In the PD Training Carbine 1 class this summer I believe 6 of the 11 AR's had issues with steel cased ammo not running well. I know for a fact that 2 of these were Spikes uppers. Even Instructor small hands Justin's work M4 with Spikes upper didn't like steel cased ammo.

My S&W M&P 15 ran it just fine and has for 1,300+ rounds of steel cased ammo. So far my Spikes Elite CHF Upper eats it just fine. I'm 300-400 rds in without a hitch.
