So I have been dreaming of a commander-sized 1911, but really did not have a whole lot of cash. I had been eyeballing the ATI 1911 on AIM's website for some time, but after reading about some potential issues I got cold feet. I ended up using Gallery of Guns (for the first time) and bought an American Classic Commander via Indy Gun Safety (Thanks Randy!:yesway:).

I have not tried her out yet, but here are my first impressions:

    1) No obvious rattles out of the box
    2) Function checks passed
    3) Fit and finish is decent; nothing too awful on the inside. She's not as well fitted as my SA Loaded, but I expected that.
    4) I like the large slide stop.
    5) Trigger seems to be a little on the heavy side, but nothing out of the ordinary for a production gun
    6) the grips are not all that great, but I do like them a lot better than the plain grips that came on my RIA Tactical. Not a big deal by any means.

Now to give her a good scrubbing. I will post an update once I try her out. :rockwoot:

I had 1 just like it.I replaced the grips and that's all I probably put 100 rounds threw it with no problems then sold it to a friend and he is still enjoying it as far as I know.

took her out for a test run this morning. i put 200 rounds through her- WWB, Speer Golddots, Mag-tech +Ps- without a single malfunction. i used the mag that came with the gun, my Colt mags and my SA mags. No issues and the slide locked back every time- which is more than what I can say for my Colt. :)

the gun is as accurate as i am. the only thing out of the ordinary is that every 2 or 3 mags, i'd get 1 round on the top of my head. I figure I'll order a replacement recoil spring and see if that fixes it. and then a new set of grips.
