So I have been dreaming of a commander-sized 1911, but really did not have a whole lot of cash. I had been eyeballing the ATI 1911 on AIM's website for some time, but after reading about some potential issues I got cold feet. I ended up using Gallery of Guns (for the first time) and bought an American Classic Commander via Indy Gun Safety (Thanks Randy!).
I have not tried her out yet, but here are my first impressions:
1) No obvious rattles out of the box
2) Function checks passed
3) Fit and finish is decent; nothing too awful on the inside. She's not as well fitted as my SA Loaded, but I expected that.
4) I like the large slide stop.
5) Trigger seems to be a little on the heavy side, but nothing out of the ordinary for a production gun
6) the grips are not all that great, but I do like them a lot better than the plain grips that came on my RIA Tactical. Not a big deal by any means.
Now to give her a good scrubbing. I will post an update once I try her out.
