Combatives are an important piece of the defense puzzle. Do you have skills to protect yourself at contact distance? Self defense can't just be about guns and knives. Ask yourself honestly, are you ready to win a fight for your life without being able to shoot or stab your attacker?

Mindset Lab will be teaching the following combative classes in September:

    September 17 - Flashlight Combatives

    Flashlight Combatives | Mindset Laboratory

A high intensity white light is a compact and powerful tool for personal defense. It can typically be carried anywhere in the world to provide protection in locations where other weapons are not permitted.

The content of Flashlight Combatives is geared toward the average citizen who wants to carry a flashlight in addition to a knife and/or handgun. We briefly cover shooting techniques with hand-held lights, but students in this one day class will learn, practice and test methods for using hand-held flashlights as searching, lighting, deterrence and impact tools. This class has minimal lecture time to focus instead on practical techniques and dynamic, combative lessons. As with all Mindset Laboratory classes, you will not leave without personally testing what you have learned.
This class is not so physical that you need to be in perfect shape to attend, but you will be expected to move and participate in active drills. Any prior injuries and disabilities can be easily accommodated.
    Required gear:

    • Hand held high intensity flashlight (loaners available)
    • Fresh batteries for your light
    • Pen or pencil and paper for taking notes
    • Drinking water and snacks
    Optional gear:

    • Bluegun and holster (Glock 19 loaners available)
    Prerequisites: None
    Class length: One Day
    Class times: 9 AM – 5:30 PM
    Class cost: $150
September 18 - Firearm Combatives and Retention

Firearm Combatives & Retention | Mindset Laboratory

Learning to fight with firearms requires more than just shooting skill. In a defensive situation, there may be times when you have a gun in your hand and you cannot shoot an attacker due to legal, tactical or ethical reasons. Even if your gun is empty or malfunctioned, you can still use it to great effect as a striking weapon. Additionally, if you are close enough to hit someone with a firearm, they are close enough to take it away from you.
This Firearm Combatives and Retention course will give you a foundation in better ways to use handguns and long guns as impact weapons as well as provide you some techniques to retain your own weapons so that they are not used against you.
As with all Mindset Laboratory classes, this course is not just theory. We train combative techniques that will still work when you are under stress and then we test them so you leave the class knowing what YOU are capable of.
This class is not so physical that you need to be in perfect shape to attend, but you will be expected to move and participate in active drills. Any prior injuries and disabilities can be easily accommodated.

    • Bluegun long gun

There are still spaces available in both classes.

There are plenty of student reviews posted here on INGO if you are wondering what my training is like.
