They are starting to pop in Hamilton county. Found about 50 on Wednesday. Only kept about 12...most of the ones I found were the size of my thumb or smaller so I left them to grow and/or reproduce. Last year the first of May was the best time....looks like we are track for the same thing again this year.
Yea the last 2 years we have only found a few and they are the last day of April and the first few days in May. I’m always curious how people find them this early. I either suck at it or my woods are lazy. We normally only check our woods but this year I just got a place out by kenard I’m going to check also.

Hopefully it is not too late
Small world. My father's family lived & farmed in west-central Putnam county for over 80 years. My mother's dad was the principal of Bainbridge High School in the early 1940s. My dad was a ballsy guy, dating the principal's daughter!
