    Read about this when they posted it. Dude is lucky and its to bad he didn't win anything on that lotto ticket. One of the mosins with a PU scope is next on my list.

    Even if I didn't get hurt, I would be really shaken up from the failure of such a big round. That fella is lucky something worse didn't happen.

    I read about that. The concensus is that the receiver was bad from the factory, whether from a defect in the forging or improper heat treat. Over the years there has been a couple of receivers cracked longitudinally, probably due to a over torqued barrel, but this is the first one I've seen that cracked radially.

    And, no, a headspace gauge wouldn't have helped.

    Thats was cracked for along time. Like the shooter pointed out. "Note the different color where the receiver failed...the discoloration indicates there was an existing failure." Wow!! Thats scary.
