A lot of those Rem. and Westinghouse MNs got converted to sportsters. Then, it was the thing to do, now we value them more for the history and originality.
For a modern sniper rifle, the MN just plain doesn't cut it. I just don't understand the fascination. They analogous to those Dodge Neon riced up cars with the glued on wings. The only difference is the MN is a worth gun in its own right. Just accept and value it for what it is.
People treat the MN like the nerdy girl in the teen movie - remove glasses, put hair up, apply makeup, dress in hot clothes and BOOM! all the jocks want her. It just doesn't work like that in the gun world.
