Grandmaster
SOLD
$250 FTF Indy South.
Selling a super nice old Mossberg Lever action .22 rifle. Short, Long, Long Rifle. Tube magazine.
Has Western Field 4x15 scope mounted on it.
Bluing excellent, wood super cond with only a couple of very minor scratches on it.
Original Sling mounts and barrel band sling mount.
This gun has the model marked as a "204" but research turned up nothing on it.
I contacted Vic Havlin the Mossberg Lever Guru who after examining pictures said it's a 402 that the markings were messed up. Here's an email from him copied and pasted...
"
Well there you go - dyslexia was alive and well in the 1960s - the roll stamps were comprised of numbers and letters that the machine operator put into a line - like an old-fashioned line-o-type machine - if you put them in backwards, you get 204 instead of 402...."
Pics don't do justice to this nice old rifle made from 1959-1969
