My Krein Dogfish from CRKT is 5.75 in the sheath and it's about perfect. I think that anything over about 6" is probably going to be too long.

I'm working on a cold steel bird and trout knife this morning and it has the same handle design but way thinner, I gotta say i like the three finger grip with the hole for the pinky especially if the grip is wider like yours.

after doing alot of research, I think I would like to back that grind up about a 1/4 of an inch to make it more of a full flat grind. Apparently it makes it easier for the blade to cut through things.

    More jimping!
A knife can never have too much jimping.
I would add some jimping around that finger hole.
If you grab the knife with a reverse grip with your index finger in that hole you will need some jimping for your thumb just like you have jimping on a normal grip.
I would also make the jimping on top almost twice longer so that you can lay your thumb on the back of the blade.
