I was cleaning my DPMS lower earlier today and realized there is a crack in the mag well. I had planned on buying a new one anyway so its not a big deal. Anyone have any recommendations? Looking for a stripped lower to put on my BCM 5.556 Upper.

Any idea how it cracked? Any guarantee from DPMS??

No idea, might have been cracked when I bought it off of my buddy. They only have a 3 year warranty, my buddy had it for at least 4 years. I only have about $150 to spend this week, hoping to pick one up at the 1500.

Where in the mag well is it cracked?

The reason I ask is if you have it TIG welded it could be saved.

Any excess could be machined off and hand dressed with a file.

I talked to one of the welders that works with me at a machine shop, he said it could be fixed, but for the time and cost its just easier to buy a new one. Plus I would hate to put a few hundred rounds through the rifle and have it crack again. It has alot of nicks and dings in it so it was probably dropped a few times. I paid $300 for the rifle so I cant complain too much. But thank you for your interest and idea!

Spikes are made by CMT/Stag, at least last I knew. So take your pick of whether you want a spider or a deer on the side. Stags are good lowers.

AGP Arms, Inc. :: AGP Arms/AR-15 :: AGP Arms Forged AR-15 Lower Receiver
AGP are nice, less chance of finding one at the show though.

I usually advise against RRA unless you know what you're getting. RRAs are made with an interference fit for the rear lug of the upper, so usually have to be "fitted" together by force fitting the upper onto the lower. If you want a tight fit with a particular upper that's fine, if you want to swap uppers around it's not so good.

I saw that last night while I was browsing around, looks great and its a good price. But I haven't ordered anything through an FFL before. Not sure how to do it. I live in Greenfield, not to many gun shops around.

Go to the Indy 1500 this weekend. You'll have many to choose from. :D

What about finding someone there to buy a stripped lower from, and have then swap the parts outs from your old lower, to a new one???
