A buddy of mine just inherited a couple of old (I think) .22 rifles and was asking me about them since he isn't a gun guy .

Ok cool just one problem , I don't know much (read anything) about .22's . :n00b:

So I go to my default plan which hopefully , is where you guys come in.:ingo:

Both rifles are wood stocked , bolt actions with blued barrels .

    One is a J H Higgins / Sears & Roebuck with a tube style magazine .

I think the model number is 103.229 but I'm not sure on that one since there isn't anything idiot proof saying here is the model number .

The other is a Marlin model 25 with a detachable magazine .

Both rifles are clean and work perfectly . How do I know ? Cause we shot'em . :rockwoot::D

So now the question is , how can I find out how old they are and if they're worth anything ?

Thanks in advance for any info . :yesway:

    jc Higgins Sears 103.229 = Marlin 81

    marlin model 25

Both are likely better guns than the price of them on the market would indicate. If they have no serial numbers then they are pre 1968 guns. If they have serial numbers on them I can get you the date of birth.
