I hope on the right thread here. I’m looking to sell my S&W 66-2 but don’t know what’s a good starting point. I’m seeing prices all over the place ranging from 900 through 1600. Any help or guidance as to where to start looking would be appreciated.

There's reserve price, what a point of sale gun store is trying to get for it. So the moon is probably $1500.
There's auction selling price, with a wide audience and a few people bidding it up. $1000-1350.
And there's private sale price. My gut says $650-900.
So a fair price depends on what the people you choose to advertise to are willing to pay.
    And there's your dinner.

Much appreciated for the help. I tried gun broker, true gun value, and blue book of gun value and they are all over the place. I like to be fair when it comes to gun sales and trades. I don’t to sell it for 9 when it’s worth 12 and lose money and also I don’t want to rip anyone off.

FWIW, if I was in the market, I'd pay as much as new or more, a premium, for a very good pre-dash 6 Model 66... new models MSRP for $999 and good luck finding one under $950... plus shipping, transfer and maybe sales tax, that's $1000-1050... for a nice gun with a hideous extra hole in the frame (the newer ones).

If yours is in as good of shape as it appears, definitely a premium... unless you're in a hurry... otherwise I'd say $1000 as a floor.

OP, you got me wondering, and hankering... lol...

So I looked at the most recent GunBroker closed listings... these sold:

    1705331313203.png

Listings of nice examples at $975 and $1050 closed with no action. So, I'd say $8-900 is "fair" for a really nice example.

I just got one today in trade that isn't in quite as good of shape as yours and had rubber hogue grips on it. I valued my trade at $700. I'd say yours is more in the $900 range.
