I know we have some tech gurus here, and I need to pick their brains a minute.
I am building a home server and I bought a couple of SAS cables to connect SATA drives to a RAID controller. So I get them in the mail today and it looks like I ordered the wrong parts.
They are correct, except they have an 8 pin female power connector in addition to the 4 SATA connectors. My questions are: Will these work if I just ignore the power connector, and what would the use case for that connector be?
