HAhaha, the media is so out of control.

I"m sure I will get bashed for this quote, but, it is valid.

All I can say is WOW! That is unbelievable. And let me guess, the retraction/apology will be a 1 second phrase on the noon news right before they throw it over to the weather guy for a final look at the forecast. Ridiculous.

Its reassuring to hear the rest of the kids comment though, even if the news channel didnt see fit to show the whole story. Kid sees violence, and decides to be a proactive part in stopping it (eventually).

Good for that little guy, I hope he follows through with his aspirations & doesn't get sucked into the violence around him.

That is why I NEVER talk to the media. Even if we were to discuss the color of the sky. They would like NOTHING better than have an officer say something that they can edit to grab viewers...usually at the officers expense. No surprise here. Sad that they felt the need to do it to a 4yr old..C'mon people...get some balls and do some REAL reporting. There is enough REAL reporting to go around.

Wonder what the news outlet would think if they got sued for attempting to defame that young man's character?

Not saying it would be valid, but it would be interesting.

This happens ALL the time, newspapers, magazines, news broadcasts. quotes are edited to serve the purpose of the network, and spun to be taken out of context, I did think this was kind of funny though thanks for posting.

Not to be too cynical, but would there be an apology or would the NAACP demand one if the kid simply stated that he wanted a gun to protect himself and had not mentioned wanting to be a police officer?

It may be just me but every time I see manipulated media I think of Frank Zappa
