Manufactured in 1940 at the
Birmingham Small Arms Factory (Shirley), United Kingdom,
denoted by the "M 47C" code marking on the receiver
NOTE: British began using codes on rifles in WW2 so
that captured weapons wouldn't tip off the Germans
as to where the factory was.
