It’s probably a toy but I’m no good with revolver identification and it’s got some heft to it. It had been sitting at the bottom of a river for who knows how long. Any info or guesses would be appreciated.
I agree, with that flat face on the hammer its a cap gun... I would bet with a bigger picture you will see that only one side of the revolver opens up...
Could very well have been a real pistol of the pocket variety from the late 1800's or early 1900's. It would take a lot of work to get past the crud to tell for sure. Will make a neat paperweight though, cool find.
Looks like it could have been a Hopkins & Allen in maybe .41 Rimfire. Would have been a higher grade gun with engraving but would be hard to get it clean enough to know.
In the late 1800's people wouldn't have been buying their kids a cap gun...they'd just buy them a real gun. That trigger looks pretty authentic to me. But then again there's lot's of crud on there.
Maybe y'all have a recommendation of a late 1800's toy gun we can look at.
