I am currently working a gun show for the rest of the afternoon, and my associate at our Ron Paul table is scoping out a pistol made by Phoenix Arms. Model may be 'HP22' in .22 caliber. Priced at $160.
Opinions on the company? Opinions on the model? Thanks for the input.
I have two of them, they are fun shooters, but they must be kept squeaky clean to operate properly. The safety system on them is a PITA too. If he could talk the guy down to maybe $140, It wouldn't be a bad deal. No more than $150.
Okay to shoot for fun. Has multiple manual safeties which are a PITA. That is way too high on price. I don't think I've ever seen them go over $120 and that is with the optional long barrel.
Had one for a while that I got for $75. The safeties are a total PITA. Very heavy for its size. I wouldn't shoot it past 7 yards. Probably makes a better club than a firearm.
I have two and I like them OK.
One works really well and is a fun gun to have around.
The other one doesn't do very well (failure to eject and failure to feed).
That all being said, $160 is W A Y T O O H I G H.
They typically go for $140 asking price at gun shows.
You can usually get them at around $125 pretty easily.
Walk away.
I also have 2 of them and 1 works while 1 doesn't. I ran a full box of 550 Federals through the one that works without cleaning and without any malfunctions. $160 is too much, I gave $120 for one and $125 for the other with both barrels and extra mag.
