To be fair I am trying to think of new guns that ship with only one magazine that I would feel comfortable recommending. KelTec, HiPoint, Ruger LCP, Kimber. Nope all about the same.
My Kahr CM9 ships with only one magazine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends or family.

Are some shops still pulling that crap?

That was way too common in the mid 1990s when mags cost a lot of money.

Only one I witnessed myself was Poffs back in 1994 during the Clinton era. I was looking at a S&W 4006 and it only had one mag but there was a ton of other mags in sandwich bags and sharpie writing for $$$$. Nothing sketchy there

I didn't buy it told them why I wasn't buying it and then I called S&W

As a follow up, they send the thin bike locks with guns because they know the strong correlation of gun owners and people who ride small bicycles.

The less lethal option they include also doubles as a lock? Huh, who knew.

Poffs! The world is better off without that place in business.
