I'm in IT and don't think it wouldn't be too bad. 10-15 man hours / week maybe for just normal storage administration. It would fluctuate depending on retrieval requests for sure. Start getting a ton of search, restore, retrieval from backups and you could 8x-10x that pretty easy.

Storage is one thing. Backups can be a whole world of headaches. I have a dead Quantum DXi hard drive array right now. I won't say how much time we've spent trying to revive that thing.

EMC storage or forget it. I think this data would have a lot of heat for a few weeks after the event, and then drop off significantly. EMC storage offers auto tiering so your hot data stays on fast storage (SSD) and your less hot data gets put on slower storage (SAS, SATA, NL-SAS). It isn't cheap but it's always on.

That way when the SD craps itself, and they all do eventually, you're only out 128GB of data.
