I just recently started the process of a purchase a .17 cal and 20 guage combo from Bud's gun shop...Is it legal to hunt squirrel with both of these calibers...what can you hunt in the near future with either of these calibers?

Yes, you could also hunt rabbit and raccoon. On a raccoon it would definitely have to be a head shot, .22 doesn't always get them. But then again I don't know a lot of 'coon hunters any more.

    I imagine dove hunting too.

22 hollow points mushroom, 17 prefragmented hollow points IMPLODE especially with the ballistic tip. Knowing this shot placement is vital, look up on youtube there was a guy that did some shots on several different targets comparing the 17 to a 22. That being said the 17 is a lot more susceptible to wind.

That's a great combo. The 17 is fast, flat shooting, and lethal on small game, and if the tree rats are not cooperating, the 20ga is a great round for cleaning them up on the run.

If it's an over/under (doesn't sound like it is), know that you cannot hunt deer with it in IN.

You can, however, hunt just about anything else with either cartridge.

You can also hunt just about whatever you want, else deer, with the rifle caliber as well.
