I know (or at least I think I know) that with a LTCH you can have a gun in your car.Is that true if you are not in the car or someone else but you is in the car with the gun.

Let's say I am in the car with my wife.I have a LTCH and she doesnt.
I need to go to a building where I am not allowed to carry my gun (federal building).

    My questions are:

Can I legally leave my gun in the car with my wife?

What if she's arrested by the police with a gun in the car and no LTCH?

    :dunno:

Thanks to anyone who could help me. :rockwoot:

I would put it in the trunk. That way there can be no doubt about her posessing it. IANAL, YMMV.
    And get her a LTCH.

If you leave the gun in the car with her, you have left it in her possession. If it is something you must do, either lock it in the trunk or in a lock box that only you have the key for.

So its legal to leave the gun in a empty car but leave it with someone who has no licence to carry its not legal right?

I was wondering about getting her a LTCH (she doesnt want to carry a gun) and I was trying to think of any/all situation where I could leave her the gun.

If you can think of any situation let me know.

Other than in your home there isnt one, unless she gets her LTCH

Not true, she can bring the gun to a gunsmith or if it is legal hunting caliber, she can take it hunting during season. She could also bring it home from the seller at the time of sell, and home from the gun smith. Since we are talking technicalities and all.

    Where's the bacon?
I certainly don't call my wife "it"

I call her "she who must be obeyed" while trembling and cowering in a corner

    Thank you, Counselor Rumpole!

As an aside, a few years ago on a woodworking board, they were talking about that show and the acronym SWMBO came up....

Many definitions of it were advanced, however the one that stuck in my memory was....

    She Who Must Bend Over

Certainly made for a few good laughs. :):
