I just completed a Glock 19L build and I am looking for something to make it pop. The build has red accents (trigger safety & extended basepads) and I thought about getting the barrel done to match. My gunsmith said he would not cerekote the barrel as it would wear off to fast, but he said he though there was somebody doing red PVD coating now.

Anyone know where I can get a barrel done in red PVD?

Any type of coating you put on a piece that will be in contact with another piece will have some sort of wear. It's inevitable.

That being said, I have done a barrel with color. It wore, but only in areas unseen unless broken down.

I did it against my advice to the customer it would not hold. He knew the consequences and asked me to do it anyway.

As long as you are aware that it will not last forever (For-ev-er, for-ev-er....sorry...Sandlot reference...) I guess I would do it.

Could/would anodizing be a better option???

    Copper electo-plate it.

I have always wanted to see that but never had the stones to do it.

Not sure how it would stand up to copper solvents but it would be neat for a little while.

I am invisioning Steam Punk Glock!!:rockwoot:
