Hello, I'm in the Indy area and I'm looking for a reputable/qualified referral on mounting my scope. I have purchased myself a really nice scope and I'm not confident in my abilities, nor do I have the tools/equipment to properly install.

I'm looking for a highly regarded individual that can fit my scope mounting needs.

    Thank you!

Check with the guys at Elmores. They were mounting a Nightforce on some kind of 338 Lapua the other day. If they can do that I would imagine they can handle it.

    Agreed
I know a couple of SWAT guys that take their rifles there.
Jason is the only person I have work on mine. My rifles shoot and are stable.

Maybe this would be a good topic for another thread but... Doesn't it seem stupid to anyone else that scope manufacturers start with a square block of aluminum, make it round then try to mount it into round rings when the recoil forces are applied laterally, then try to bolt the whole assembly down to ring basses tightened laterally?

    :dunno:

An easy question is to ask to see the torque wrench they use to mount a scope. if the give you a blank stare or ask what torque wrench then you can just walk right back out the door.

    Not far from the tree
It's a small frame 17 caliber Cooper, Burris Zee rings, Leupold bases and SB 1" scope.

Leupold make a picatinny rail for Cooper to fit those Zee rings?
I'd use the dovetail/windage adjustable bases and the Signature rings to match.
If your base is indeed a Weaver/Picatinny style, at least spring for the Signature Zee rings.
Schmidt&Bender is an awfully nice scope to try and explain ring marks on.
Which model # on the Cooper and which .17? Rimfire or centerfire?
Pics of the Cooper porn are always appreciated.

I run the Burris Signature Zees on everything.
They lose a little in the looks dept, due to insert sticking out.
But no scratches more than make up for it.
IIRC the medium signature zees are slightly taller than reg zee mediums.

FWIW Burris stuff now made in China.

I;d try to find some NOS US made ones. Just because.
