It's absolutely worth every penny more for the replaceable panels...if you think it is.

There's no well in the world that removable panels are worth an extra $50.00...if you don't think it is.

Mine is the non-removeble version, I don't think about it except when someone asks about it. But I also have rubber grips on my 1911, I like the look and feel better than the stock wood grips.

So, I've got my eye on getting either a Ruger P512MKIII or a P512MKIIIRP.

The later is with the "replaceable panels".

Are the replaceable panels worth it? I haven't been able to handle one yet. They certainly do look nicer.

    Thanks....

I have a 22/45 from before the replaceable panel models were available .
The grip is so thin I found a guy that made "replaceable panels" for it.
If I were you I would handle them both and buy the one that felt better in my hand.

Sorry this thread is a couple days old, but I ground off and Bondoed over my grip and installed 1911 grip bushings so I could have replaceable ones.

Then a few months later they came out with one from the factory.

I have a MKIII 22/45 RP. I put Houge Grips and it made the MKIII a whole new gun. Fits my hand just right. Around Indy RP models are going for ~$279.00

I have the old style before they offered the replaceable panel models. If I didn't already have one I would go with the replaceable panels. But then again I just ordered a new threaded barrel for mine so I could put a silencer on it. Go figure...
