Is the s&w optics ready ar15 any good? I'm looking for accuracy at long range foremost. I have heard these lowers don't fit well with other uppers. I would eventually look into getting a .22lr conversion kit/upper for it. Thanks.

Spikes Tactical makes a really nice .22 AR-15 upper that should go right on the S&W lower. They work best with a notched hammer. I'm not sure which type S&W produces on their guns. Bill T.

The S&W M&P-15 "OR" models are no different from any of the other rifles in the M&P-15 family as far as the lowers are concerned, so I'm not sure what those folks were talking about. :dunno:

IME, S&W makes some excellent AR-style rifles.

Is a 16 inch barrel going to give me enough accuracy, or should I look into a longer barrel?

Not sure what kind of accuracy you are looking for, your skill level, or what kind of distance you're referring to. Although some talk of 5-600 yard accuracy with an AR type rifle, probably the 3-400 yard range is more realistic for most of us with a 16 inch tube. Anything much over that and I believe you're talking about a different type of AR animal optics, and ammunition.
