I finished inletting the barrel of the Boyd's Pro Varmint stock into the Model 10P. It's now free floating. Here is a pic. I think that Savage considered this a scout rifle (Jeff Cooper style) but the scope can't be mounted forward and at close to 9 pounds, the rifle is too heavy. The barrel is 16 inches so not much for velocity for long range in .308. Besides, the Redfield 3x9 x40 Defender, made by Leupold now, has none of the bells and whistles needed for long range shooting. Pictured is an eight round mag from Delphos Shooting. The barrel is threaded for a muzzle brake or suppressor
Since I no longer hunt, it's just going to be as fun rifle for me. Hopefully, somewhat accurate. I like it, especially after getting rid of the flimsy plastic stock.
