I've heard rumors. You let me know if there's any stolen valor you spot that I can film.

Sure thing, I am certain Auxilaries/Dad's Army is a subject of all kinds of that.

Annual Training Story from this year:

Jonesing for coffee bad last day (a Sunday). Off to the All Ranks Club by my lonesome.

I walk in, only guy in ACUs. I see officers eating at the tables so I figure I won't be hazed that bad. Standing in line behind me are an E-4 and an E-5. They are giving me the hairy eyeball.

Finally the Specialist says, "sir, I am not familiar with your unit. What exactly are you?" Everyone in line leans in (like EF Hutton commercials, you remember?)

"We are auxiliaries, disaster relief, floods, tornados, stuff like that. We are the medical unit, nurses, LPNs, toxicologists, psychiatrists, dentists and we even have veterinarians, small and big animal."

*At this point, 3 dozen cell phones get whipped out* "Sir, can you look at my dog? Tell me what you think."

*feeling the eyes of the officers at the tables looking over with full mouths and worried eyebrows* "Fine looking animals all. Contact the Major at the training hall if you need it looked at."

So what’s everyone’s probability that this bill going through? Reading about it, sounds extremely unconstitutional and a feel good measure at best. We don’t have a single problem with people carrying rifles openly. The only times I’ve seen open carry rifles were at the 2nd amendment rallys. We all know no one got killed either lol.

Highly unlikely. The bill is virtue signalling.

Drive guns from the public square and make them something we need to be ashamed of.

Here's the Cliff's Notes: It'll be a crime to carry an AR or an AK, not to mention an M1 Garand. Crap like this is why we need to pay attention and let let our elected officials know this is unacceptable.

Senate Bill 125 - Open carry of rifles - Indiana General Assembly, 2019 Session

Well, this one was just more than I could take. Especially considering I had a change in my Senate representative this year which I did not want. After multiple attempts I finally found an e-mail address for my new State Senator and provided him the following.

    "To: s29@iga.in.gov (Senator J.D. Ford)
Subject: Welcome, and Senate Bill 125

    Senator Ford,

Welcome to the role of the peoples representative!

I sincerely hope you can represent my interests and beliefs as well as you can others.

I have a simple philosophy, grounded in our nation's and state's founding documents, patriotism, and respect for the rights of individuals and States, before the Federal government.

I am writing to you today to object to a Bill put forth in the Senate by one of your peers and a member of your party.

Frankly I find Senator Greg Taylor's (Democrat, District 33) Bill 125 offensive. I therefore ask that you put forward a motion to kill Senator Taylor's Bill, and censure him for putting forth a Bill counter to the intent of the Indiana Constitution Article 1, Section 32. "The people shall have a right to bear arms, for the defense of themselves and the State".

You will note that this State's Constitution, nor the Constitution of the United States of America, has any qualification or equivocation regarding the type of arms or restrictions on when or what may be borne by a citizen. I am sorely disappointed that this is one of the first pieces of legislation I have found to be put forth by a member of your party in this new legislative season.

This legislation, coupled with some of the questions incorporated in your constituent survey are disappointing and disturbing. Together they show a lack of knowledge regarding this nation's founding principals, and the reasons and basis for the Rights guaranteed by our State and Federal Constitution's.

I look forward to you representing my interests as we move forward."

On his Web page (https://www.indianasenatedemocrats.org/senators/s29/) there was a link to a voter survey. While the questions were loaded in the direction I expected I was disappointed to find "Bloombergesq" anti-gun items embedded right at the bottom of the first page. I was even more disappointed to see the survey results https://www.indianasenatedemocrats.org/pssurvey29/ (though I recognize his primary constituency likely skewed the results)

When completing his survey I made an offer to educate him regarding firearms. I doubt seriously he will take me up on it, but it was worth a shot.

Get ready for a ride ladies and gentlemen. We are going to regret not getting more done the last two years...

I found the same issues when taking his survey. From my experiences working in the Senate, the sample size of the online survey is not indicative of the constituents that Sen. Ford serves.
Last year Sen. Delph didn't want his survey results posted until the hard copy mailed survey's had also been accounted for. I'm sure you can surmise, that a smaller and younger demographic makes up a large percentage of the online surveys.
