Serial number ?

I am wanting to SBS a Stevens 12ga SxS but I noticed one thing on the shotgun...there's no serial number. I did some research on this and found that they did not have serial's before '69. I even went as far as finding out where the serial's are located on the post '69 guns and there are no file marks or anything that hints towards tampering. Now my question is can I still submit this for a form 1? If not am I stuck with a 26.5" barreled SxS or is there another option?

As long as you engrave a serial number on it (your number choice), I'm not sure why you couldn't.

I've seen several S&W Bodyguard 38s where the first 3 letters in the serial number were C-U-M
