I have a septic tank that sits in front of the house, our neighbors maby 50 feet to the east of us have theirs in their back yard which under heavy rain like we had a few weeks ago flooded the yard and they claim backed their septic tank up into the house.
(They had plumbers out for a week working on their house, restoration crews, septic pumped, and carpet pulled out...)

We are having some plumbing work done here soon that has been needed/known about since we bought the house. My question is since the main drain line is having some work done, would it be wise to have a back flow preventer or check valve or what ever the part is called installed?
