The "pro" version of the Midway mat is a very good deal. I use the basic competition mat and it is tough as nails.

Base mat from midway (reg 49.99), I am very pleased with it.

I've never used another commercial mat, so I have nothing first hand to compare it to. However when it's 1/2 price, I don't think anything could touch it for anywhere near $25.

I have a Creedmore mat, and it's really nice. I don't know about the Midway pro model, but the Creedmore mat is thicker, and more heavy duty than the standard Midway. But it costs quite a bit more too, it think.

If you're planning on shooting a lot of matches, get a nice mat. If you're only going to use it now and then at the range, a cheap yoga mat works just fine.

Unless you're really gonna spend a lot of time laying on it, a regular closed cell foam sleeping bag pad will work...
