I know an Indiana officer who can hit torsos over 200 yards away with a revolver. The one hand and the horse reins do spike the difficulty a bit. But, why not release the reins???

2. Don't let go of the reins because the horse could run into traffic. Then kill a highly trained horse and also the citizen driving said vehicle. Keeping control of the horse was very important for public safety.

3. If this is all true it is one of the best confirmed kills in firearms history! 104 yards off hand, one hand with a pistol and holding the reins of a horse.

IT was 2:30am...

which is a bigger risk? A horse or a man shooting full auto at things. I am not armchair quarterbacking the shoot, just found it odd. Although you see people fall all the time and never drop their phone or drink so maybe it's instinct to hold on to things.
