SKS thoughts

I got this SKS a few years ago and this buildup on the piston has been on there since I got it. Its never had a problem before just something I think about from time to time. Ive tried a wire brush and that got a good bit of it off anybody have any good ways to clean this off or is not an issue at all and I think to much about it?

No worries, have fun shooting that thing. Mine has similar, has shot thousands of trouble free rounds.

Slip 2000 Carbon Killer will do it if you choose to mess with it.

Not a problem but if you are worried, you can buy brand new pistons for almost nothing. I think they are like $2.00. I have seen pistons were out so if you plan on doing a lot of shooting with an AK or SKS, pick up a spare.

Why not use "EASY-OFF" oven cleaner, spray in on, leave there for a couple of hours, then wipe it off.

I wouldn't worry about it either. We used Break Free in the Military to get stuff like that off (not every one was a pro at weapon cleaning like me I guess).

It's not gonna hurt the SKS.

Throw it in some mud, it will help.

Mines had the same thing for as long as I can remember, and still has never givin me a problem. I wouldn't think into it too much
