Never had a skunk on the property, tonight is a different story....

Am I stuck with a night op, hunting and slaying this beast?

Do they move on? I don't keep trash outside but I do think the smell of the grill has brought this one in. I lived in the country for most of my life and this is a first.

    Can they be baited?

    Opinions please!

We had skunks a few times. They never usually move on if it is mid summer/fall because they are looking for somewhere to bed for the winter.

I had 6 last week, came walking down the grass waterway in the wheat field next to my property.(wheat was cut a day before, disturbing the skunks I'm guessing). My nephew was over and said hey look at those cats in the field. I saw they were headed for my barn. I could not allow this as I had to remove a couple from the barn last winter, which turned into a stinky mess. I sent my nephew in the house and I fetched a "tool" and re-routed the skunks...it stunk for a day or so but all is well now.

The video didn't really convince me to keep the thing. :)

I did a little yard surveying and remembered that everytime I go past a certain spot in the drive I have been smelling animal crap. The bedding down comment has me convinced I know exactly where he's hiding.

Sleep for now, skunk problem solving tomorrow.

    Thanks

I did the night op. We live close to an interstate though, and I think that got him before I could. I don't think they'll move on if there's a ready supply of something they want, which in my case was probably grubs in the yard.

Just ignore them, start feeding them, catch them, descent them and keep them around to get rid of the other pests.

Nevermind, use cats to keep the mice away. Much easier.

If you choose any of the above, I'd be sure to have a case of Tomato Juice on hand just in case. Good Luck! :)
