SLINGSHOTS ???

Just read the thread on air rifles and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on slingshots in a survival situation.

Killed a fair number of rabbits with one when I was a kid, so they can feed you if needed.

I have several. I don't get to practice very often, but I can usually get the feel of it pretty quick. I have no doubts in the abilities of a good slingshot being able to quickly kill small game.

I have a few for small game if SHTF. Marbles are good cheap ammo. Deadly and very quiet.

Of course, for some of those you need to be a hulking Nordic dude to use, but still...very cool.

This is my experience also. I've owned a couple but the rubber falls apart after a couple of years.

I have a couple and spare rubber tube stored out of the light and in an air tight container.

Worst case you can make one..

Was just thinking of a slingshot over the weekend, and then saw this thread. I haven't had one since I was a kid. Might be time to either pick up a decent one, or try to make my own. Me and LaDirectorette could defend the garden from critters.....

Spare rubber is a must. Buy the surgical tubing. Higher quality and last longer.

Decent wrist rocket with good quality bands. This is already set up to be able to shoot arrows as well. It can also be set up for bow fishing. I have one, and it works really well.

Yes, the tubing on wrist rockets deteriorates within a couple of years, but they are great for small game. Marbles, ball bearings, and lead round balls work great. Fun to play with, and inexpensive.

Store the spare tubes in the refrigerator.
They'll keep for years.
(Works for rubber bands too.)

I'd like to get back into shooting the sling shot with SHTF in mind. Wonder what the state of the art slingshot would be? Folding arm support? Silent efficient handle ammo storage? Readily replaceable bands/parts
