What's the difference between a up and down grounded solenoid and a right and left grounded solenoid?

In 30 years of industrial electrical experience, I've never heard of solenoids described that way.

Sounds like a starter solenoid and the up, down, right, left would be descriptive of where the grounded terminal is in a 3-wire solenoid as it is mounted in a vehicle.

Just a guess.

That could be. Even so, most of the time, there is a ground symbol or "-" sign or something to indicate which one is which.

Connector Orientation1 - isO ground up & down2 - isO ground right & left3 - mini ground down4 - mini ground up

Seems like that would depend on what it is mating up to. Is there a connector body it plugs onto ?

I think it's a left to right solenoid. The solenoid is a 5/2 4 way.
