    Sounds like a starter solenoid and the up, down, right, left would be descriptive of where the grounded terminal is in a 3-wire solenoid as it is mounted in a vehicle.

    That could be. Even so, most of the time, there is a ground symbol or "-" sign or something to indicate which one is which.

    I'm buying a dual cycle timer and it asks this
