I am going to south bend this weekend and I usually carry a 9mm m&p on me with a 17 round mag. My issue is that I heard some **** about magazine size and laws that predate something blah blah blah. I would just like to know if I could carry it in my car. I usually cc an lcp. So I'm not gonna be walking around with the 9 on my side while I'm there. Oh I do have a ltcf from Pennsylvania .I am an awful Illinois resident that spends alot of time in the great republic of Indiana.

No issue with what you carry. South Bend had an ordance on selling Hi-cap mags on the books and alot of places wont ship the to SB. but if I remember correctly the ordance was adoptid 1 day to late and is not enforceable.

To the best of my knowledge you have no problems with mag size, but for goodness sakes DO NOT carry a stun gun of any size or shape...those are illegal. The powers that be WANT you to shoot someone rather than use "less than lethal" force.

The South Bend PD has a nice FAQ on handguns that I think answers your question.
    South Bend Police Blog

Look at the question entitled "Weapons Capacity" for the "offical SBPD" answer.
As others have stated SB still has an ordinance on the books regarding "hi-cap" magazines but it was added to their "books" AFTER the Indiana law took effect which makes the SB ordinance "unenforceable".

I like this Q&A. All I can say is wow. Kind dumb to put it in writing:

Open Weapons Carrying? Q:If I have an Indiana gun permit for a handgun, is it breaking the law if I had it on my hip, and walked into a public place?

A:Indiana's weapons carrying permit law is designed for weapons to be carried about the person. The law does not specifically prohibit "open carry" however, you must have a permit to carry a handgun at all. Some places prohibit carrying weapons at all, such as schools, and casinos as an example.

While the law does not prohibit "open carry" specifically, the intent of the law is to carry the weapon (assuming it is a personal protection permit) responsibly and discreetly (i.e. concealed) and if your open carry is determined to be a danger or reckless by an investigating officer, you could risk being arrested, losing your permit and your weapon. My advice is to carry your handgun concealed.

Here are some of my thoughts on that text.

    1) They use the word permit but the text used in the IC is lisence.

    2) "the intent"... <<insert facepalm>> :faint: rrrreeeaaalllllyyyy

This peaked my interest....with a few corrections of some of the um...typos... ;)

Q: I wanted to know what is the law on carrying swords in public if there is no criminal intent or violent behavior behind carrying them?

A: While most knives are not regulated by state law, in general, "swords" are [strike]not designed as a[/strike] totally sweet weapons designed for standard carry, and as with any knife or edged weapon, does have [strike]deadly[/strike] awesome potential to be totally badass if a situation is deemed where the manner or circumstances are such that it is determined that a criminal is being a danger to public safety and you need to protect innocent lives with your weapon. There is no good logical reason to carry a sword in public in your hands that I can think of since any good quality sword almost always comes with a scabbard that will allow you to have your sword readily available at your side if needed, and allowing you the use of both hands for your daily activities.

Sweet! :rockwoot: ...And with this bit of info my attire has been set for my next trip home:

Stun guns and tazers are regulated the same as handguns. If you have your LTCH then you can carry one. Check the Indiana Criminal Code.

For the state you are pretty much correct. South bend ordinance is a bit different.
