Picked one up at Bradis a while back.
Pretty nice surplus pistol for the price.
    All steel...Heavy...9MM...shoots nice.
I hate the huge CAI import billboard on the side of the slide though ... and adding another S/N? is that standard for imports?
Will probally be picking up another one to smith on, but looking for a non Century Arms, perhaps a chromed or alloy one.

    Who has one?
    Thoughts?
    I know....I know...pictures. Will try that later.

Century only imports them, so they're good to go. AIM Surplus has had them, as well as Classic Firearms, both in various grades. I picked one up from AIM a few months ago. They're going to be standard models though. Not aware of any other finishes or alloy frames.

I'm fairly certain those were only made in one style, so the only difference between them will be condition. Star did make an aluminum alloy frame the same size in .45 called the PD and it came in a few finish configurations.

I believe the alloy framed version is called the BK. I've never seen one in the short time I've been looking for one.

I have been very impressed with the Star BM so far. Accurate, reliable and decent trigger. I find it to be heavy for its size, and if I could Find a BK for a reasonable price, I'd buy one. If it's as reliable as my Model BM, it would be a great 9mm carry gun.

I've had both the BM and the BKM (alloy frame). Sold both of them. Nice guns, but there are better options these days for a personal defense item. They do make good truck guns and plinkers though.

I got this one as a replacement for one that was stolen.
Cost me a total of $35.00, long story.
    It's a Star BS.

That looks really nice! The compact Star has been on my list for awhile as an affordable surplus 9mm. Also, something to tinker with and not feel terrible if I booger it a little!

Might want to get one while the gettin's good. They are starting to dry up from the online retailers. Stopped by Hoosier Armory this afternoon. They have a handful in really nice condition. I get the sense that the prices are about to climb on these little gems. Heck the mags have gone from $18 to $24 apiece in the past month-or-so.
