Stranded on a desert island with

AR over the SKS due to weight. Long barrel for any hunting there may be available so I can eat bacon like food.

And lots of Rum. It's a desert island after all.

5: A really nice sling. I would hate to have to carry that rifle all day and have to set it down everytime I wanted to do something.

It is a desert island, so I'll need a rifle that won't eventually fail or malfunction under hot, dirty, sandy conditions, and my cleaning supplies will eventually run out so... AK-47!

Is the primary purpose of a rife to hunt food on this desert island?

If so, ill take a 30-30 lever action with a 3x or 4x scope. Im not picky as long as it shoots where I aim and goes bang every time.

Being that this is a family friendly site, i will refrain from telling you what 2 magazines I would choose to bring with me

I'm kind of torn on rifles...

An AK would be right at home.
A 10/22 would at least be lighter.

Might have to go with a Mosin, though. Certainly the most versatile in this situation.
- Use it to spear fish
- Club baby seals for food
- the stock would make a heck of a shovel to dig for water
- Jam it in the ground to hold up one side of your hammock
- Heck, it probably casts quite the shadow for some shade!
- Wait until dusk/night and signal passing ships with the fireball. Just don't accidentally shoot them.
